| Sketchy reciever
So over the last few days while goofing off the truck would just shut down and today I noticed that the light would shut off on the receiver. So im assuming its just a bad receiver or could something else cause this short? The reliever is a spektrum sr3000 and the controller a dx3.0. Thanks for any info Fat fingered from the phone- Corey |

| Re: Sketchy reciever He's asking if you have a BEC installed. BEC stands for Battery Eliminator Circuit. If you don't run one, your ESC has to be able to provide enough power for all of your electronics, including the servo and receiver. If the ESC does not have enough power, it can cause glitchyness/failing. What kind of truck are you running and what ESC does it have? Fink |

I would get the same issues when my ESC overheated and shutdown and start back up. So ESC could be an issue to.

I'm not an expert so I would wait for confirmation, but I believe the AE-1 has a very low current BEC. What kind of servo are you running? What battery? Fink |

Once you get near/over 200inoz on a servo, most ESC internal BEC's are overworked when the steering is in a bind. This causes a "brownout" of power to the RX shutting it down. Using an external BEC helps with this. | |

I have that ESC laying on my bench right now, it's what I ran just about all last comp season. And you don't need to get anywhere near that big of a servo to cause it problems. Mine was running the stock servo and acted up. Putting on a BEC stopped the glitches and shutdowns, made everything nice and happy. I then bought some 3S LiPos, and life was as good as it gets with the stock electronics. If that thing had a Low Voltage Cutoff, and the ability to get rid of the reverse delay, I'd still be using it. Actually, I have an alarm, so the delay in it was really my biggest beef with it.

Castles are popular and proven. Price is right to not have to shop around either. HeyOk No Brainer BEC are good too. He will even set the voltage for you and priced the same. Easier to install too.

I have no idea if it can, but you should definitely run LiPos if that ESC can handle them. I got two LiPos for the same price as that NiMH. Just a thought. Quote:
