500mah 2s turnigy battery too small???

ok i need to get a lipo charger and lipo batteries.. i see batteries arent that expensive...

stopped at a LHS and a new owner is a younger guy than the previous owner. He has 5 x 500mah 2s lipo batteries.. had $9.99 on each but said he could give them to me for $5 each.... i had my ax10 with me... i stuck 1 of them up front and it seemed soooooo small...

would this be a good deal, much run time or dont even bother?
i ordered my castle bec through him and will be here thursday "thumbsup"

so from what i hear a ae-2 esc with castle bec can go max 3s.... so hold off and get 3s batteries from battery links up here?

Hold off for the 3s, that's 50% more power and speed with zero downfalls.

Make sure the C rating is high enough to handle your amp draws. Depending on your motor I would be looking at 25c min up to 40c or better.

25c will give you about 12.5 amps of cap. 50c will give you double the ability. Motors can easily draw 30 amps or more depending on the bind or how heavy your finger is at wide open throttle attacks.

That said I and many others have had great success with lower Mh batts with higher c ratings.

If they're nano-techs of a higher C rating, then its a good deal. But 3s is alot more fun "thumbsup"

If they're all 2S, I'd hold off, get some 3S.

I run 3S, 1,300mAh, and usually one pack gets me through all three comp courses and a little practice time afterwards. Check valuehobby.com, but I think I paid less than $11 each. I think you'd be happier with bigger batteries than the ones you mentioned.

They are worth $5 each if you want to stay 2S.

got my new charger in today.. charged up my sons 2 heli 2s batteries.. went to plug my 2s turnigy on to balance charge it... why not.. new toy.. got to play....

well guess what... these turnigy batteries ARE 3s!!!!!!!!!!! gonna go back and get a few more.. @ $5 why not.... i cant find 1300mah cheaper than $12.. in stock... seems everywhere is out of stock.. so $5 each is on queue....

now i have to wire my ax10 for lipo to the front.... my oldest has soccer tournaments this weekend..so may not have the time..but next week definitely!!!!!!!!!
