| FIXED! Servo help can't get the hitec HSR-5995 to work
I've got two Hitec HSR-5995TGs. I am trying to get them to work but it's like they're getting no power or signal. I have the signal and ground coming from the receive and the power as well as battery ground going directly to the servo. I've wired them exactly like the post from BultacoJim in this thread http://www.rccrawler.com/postt4156.html I am using this radio/reciever (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1P?&I=LXCFW077) These servos are digital. Does that also mean that I have to have a digital radio/receiver for them to work or is something else wrong? |

In an attempt to see if I did something wrong I plugged one of my old servos directly into the receiver and it works. But I plug one of the new 5995TG into the receiver there's nothing. It's like it does get signal or power.

if you plug a regular servo in and it works, the 5995 should also work. Make sure when you plug them in that the signal wire is on the same side as the tab opening in the receiver. or said another way, make sure that the signal wire is on the same side when you plug in the standard servo and the 5995. sometimes you can insert the servo connector into the receiver backwards, so just make sure your inserting it correctly.

directly into the Rx, try it on the end of your modified “Y” cable. Are you using the BEC output from your SR to power the Rx? Do you have an LED on your Rx indicating power to it? Are you supplying power to the servo(s) from a 7.2 v pack or a separate RX pack? (The specs on your Rx says it can handle 8.4 volts. 8O ) Anyway, can you can post a schematic of your wiring? Hope some of this helps. | |||

Ok, All wiring is out the door. I can not make these 5995s work with the rcvr. I've tried all combinations of wiring by plugging directly into the Airtronics rcvr and they will not run. I know if I can not get them to work directly from the rcvr then they are not going to work with any modified wiring... I am totally stumped. Also, if I plug into the rcvr with a Y cable and hook one of the futaba up everything is fine, but just as soon as I add a 5995 to the other end of the Y-cable, both servos stop responding.

Just an update, I spoke to Hitec and they said it sounds like everything I am doing is right. So I am sending the servos to them for verification as they could be faulty.

cheapjeep2, Looks like you have the problem isolated to the 5995s. Strange that they would both be bad. 8O keep us posted on the outcome. |

I will keep ya posted. Seem's odd to me and it doesn't site well. They basically said if wired up and I can move the servo arm with my hand then there's no power. They couldn't see anything that I was doing wrong. I sounds to me like a dead short in the servos themselves.

Well just got this from the Hitec technician so I will try this tonight as I have an FM radio on my stampede. Hello, I believe I just spoke with you briefly about this problem, but now that I see your post I do see one thing that could be causing the problem. It could be the AM radio system. If you or a friend has an FM system you could use for testing purposes I would plug the servos into that system and check their operation. If they function normally then the problem has to do with the AM transmitter’s peak voltage to its pulse being too low. This is what would be causing the problem with digital servos and not the analogs servos you were using with the radio. |

Interesting, If there are issues with using an AM radio with digital servos, this could be the same deason I'm having problems with my Duratrax (low budget) ESC. |

IT defenantly sounds like theres a short , so from what i understand so far one works when pluged into the y harness and when the other is pluged in both dont? Seems like the second one has a short. Try switching it around pluging the second one in first and see if it works alone if not its bad. geez thats confusing im not the best when it comes to puting things into words. :? |

sambmx, Almost, I bought two of the 5995tgs niether one work. If I plug either one of them in a y cable with one of the futabas then the futaba quits as well until the 5995tg is un-plugged.

They work! Hitec was right, it was the AM radio system from Air Tronics. I pulled my stock TQ system from my Stampede (also AM) and everything works. So I'll move my Air Tronics to the stampede and my TQ to the txt. Thanks. Troy |

| Re: FIXED! Servo help can't get the hitec HSR-5995 to work It'll be worth the headache once you get those servos working. I saw one in action on Fishmaxx's Clod, they are STRONG! |
