| Cold weather packs
what do you all do for cold weather, i know lipos don't like the cold so i need something that I can run in the snow. I was thinking about jsut making me up some more NICD or NIMH packs, but sub D's seem to have gotten pricy again. ESC can run 4s so i was thinking something in the 12 volt area.

I just run LiPos. I've driven some of my crawlers in pretty cold weather with a little snow and haven't had any issues. Been running LiPo in the Kyosho Blizzard for a few years now.

I was told it was no no. Do you notice any change in performance? less power, shorter run time?

You'll notice a little loss with small mah, low C packs. In a comp truck it can be a problem, most scalers will never see an issue due to more mah.

If you keep the LiPO pack warm until use, they don't tend to drop temp real fast, thus no real performance loss. You could drop a chemical heater in your LiPO sack to keep pack temps up until use. As an aside, I believe you mean "sub-C" packs, not "sud D". |

Last pack I built where Ds Most of my winter running will be around the house but the chem pack is a great idea. What would be a good low end temp to stop at? |

I haven't noticed any decrease in performance or runtime, but I do run my scalers on big 2S packs. I'm not usually out too long in the cold, I'd be willing to bet my fingers/feet start to hurt before the pack is too cold.

Yeah warm them to room temp, install then run. They'll be fine, it won't last as long and might lose a little punch, but I've never had an issue with my Rally Car on the streets after a snow.
