Default RC4WD 9300xt Winch

I recently (as in just got it today) purchased a RC4WD Bulldog 9300xt Wireless Winch from RPPHobby. I received it today and plugged a NiCd battery in before modding the plug for deans and to make sure it works. As soon as I plugged it in there was a small glow and smoke from the underside of the plastic receiver box. Needless to say I unplugged it asap and let it sit for a few moments. Tried it again about 10 minutes later and now nothing happens. Does anyone know what may have been the issue. The battery was a 1500mah 7.2v NiCd which I had from a RotoStarter. I emailed RC4WD as per instructions from RPP. I uncluded pictures as well. Hope this can be resolved easily, as I would just need a receiver to make it work I would assume.

Nope definitely didn't.... Didn't even get a chance to do that. This was with stock Tamiya plug. The one that is installed on it.

So good news from RC4WD.... They are sending me out a new controller for the winch. Pretty good customer service just wish I could get a phone number to talk to tech support or service. Now my question is, if they send me a new controller I assume thats the plastic box with the circuit board in it..... will I need a new Wireless controller (Key Fob) with the buttons on it to actually control the winch or will it automatically bind to it. Seems wierd to just bind right to it even though its a different unit. Any help is appreicated.

the fob is performed by frequency so just find out if they use the same for each one?

not sure but it should work?

Ok, so if I'm looking at it like that and all fobs are connected by same frequency then anyone who has the unit can control other people's winch at any time. Doesn't sound right to me, since there will most likely be some where that has more then one person running the same winch. Just curious how this is setup.

Just letting everyone know that RC4WD came through like True Professionals and sent me out a new controller which solved the problem. Thanks so much RC4WD, I now have my Winch hooked up and works perfect. Thanks.

great to hear but did you manage to find out how they control the "wireless" winch?
i know what you mean when you say that everyones winch would operate when 1 fob goes off. lol
it must be off a few different frequencies otherwise that could be funny to watch! :P

Well they sent me a new set. Key fob and controller. So its most likely linked by them. Wonder if i can bind my other one to it as well for back up.
