Default funky BEC/servo issue

i just hooked my CC bec up saturday. i was running a cheap hobbypartz 6v bec before.

i had it hooked up as follows
bec +,- to esc side of main battery plug
servo +,- to BEC +,- output. servo signal to rx
esc built in BEC powering RX. running a jr st126mg servo

everything worked fine till i killed the servo. iv had good luck so far with the solar D772 HV servos from hobbypartz.com, i bought one to replace the JR.also upgraded the BEC to the CC 10amp BEC at the same time. set it to 7.4v

i hooked the CC bec and servo up the same way my cheap BEC/JR servo was.
test steering on the bench, all is good, throw it on the ground and get some load on the esc, steering goes janky. hit the throttle and the wheels jerk left the straiten up, start trying to climb something, higher load, steering goes haywire.

pull all the wiring out and everything looks good.

now if i solder all the wires back to there RX plugs and plug the BEC into the RX,(yes i dropped the red from the ESC) and plug the servo into the RX steering works like its suppose to.

my esc is only rated to 6v, but i used it in a nitro savage and a fully charged 5 cell rx pack is over 7v so im not really worried about frying the RX.

it works fine now,but i would like to know why theres a problem with the way it was wired before

Some servos wind up needing the gorund as well as the signal going from servo to receiver.
Try running
white- servo to Rx,,
red- servo to BEC,,
and black- servo to both BEC and Rx.
See if that fixes ya.

white, red, black or
orange, red, brown, whichever combination you have on your servo.
