| T-maxx Converted
Ok like the title says i converted my T-maxx extended chassis to electric, i am running the Toro SC120 esc (which is awesome) and an Orion 3750kv brushless motor, (which is the quesiton) after about 5 mins of running on my 2s lipo the motor is pretty warm havent taken a temp but prob close to 180 or 200! like i said pretty warm. I was wondering how to get away from this, should i go to a lower kv motor or what? Any Input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

Is the esc temperature ok?. Try a bigger pinion if you can.

Yes the esc temps are great, really cool to the touch, love this esc for the money! so you think a bigger pinion will kepe the motor heat down! Just makin sure thats what you meant because when i used to run crawlers with brushed motors the bigger the pinion the hotter the motor would run! I will try a larger pinion if i can find one(i think im running a 24t 32p pinion) thanks

A bigger pinion will just make the motor hotter. You wan to go smaller vs bigger. If you are running a 24t drop down to around an 18t just to see if the motor temps drop, which they probably will.

Thats what i was thinking! Going smaller will also down my speed right! I like the speed it has now and the bottom end torque is great. Do you think maybe running a longer can motor with a lower kv would help or would i want to run a higher kv?

The T-maxx is a decent sized heavy truck so a lower KV would be better. Something designed for an 1/8 scale. I am no brushless expert but if I wanted speed and torque I would be looking at a 1/8 scale under 3000 kv motor and run it on at least 3s. Gear down, volt up.

I'm running 4s and a Dewalt 14v motor on my converted 3.3 T-maxx. Speed isn't like a brushless E-maxx or anything but the torque is ridiculous.
