sand in motor help

i have a integy 35t motor im having a problem with sand locking it up. in my 6 years of crawling, racing ive never had a problem.

it runs good till i roll the truck then it locks the motor up. if i turn the spur gear i can hear the sand in it and get it roll again till it rolls over again

any ideas?

Pull the endbell off the can and clean it with motor cleaner. Reoil the bearings and reassemble. If you know anyone who can cut the comm have the comm cut and install new brushes. Even when brand new they could use the comm cut.

X2 and if you are going to be playing in the sand put a piece of pantyhose over the motor to keep junk out of it.

I agree with everything that has been said here.

I got into some pretty raunchy stuff with my HH TorqueMaster Pro 35t and all it took was a full disassemble, reoil of the bearings and a toothbrush with dish soap on the armature (per Holmes' recommendation). Was a brand new motor after that!

Also, a few of the guys I run with do the pantyhose trick with great success! I'll be doing it from now on also!

I run inner foams from a nitro air filter over my motors in the sandy and watery stuff, next to no restriction on air flow, no problems with cooling the notor and keeps the crap out. Plus, a quick squish under a tap and they are ready to use again.
