I don't see any specs on the ESC from a few vendors. The stock rig uses a 7.2vdc NiMH pack, so I agree, you should be able to run a 6 cell NiCD/NiMH or 2S LiPO (although you won't have a LiPO LVC built in). As to "plug & play", depends on your connections. The RX connection is likely fine and you can always change motor & battery connections if need be. |

Some packs may have a "P" which is where the cells are paralleled, this adds the capacity, not the voltage. Thus a 2P pack is ~3.6volts but doubled capacity (mah). For NiCD/NiMH a single cell is usually rated @ 1.2volts. Thus a 6 cell NiCD/NiMH is 7.2 volts. Last edited by Charlie-III; 11-06-2012 at 05:56 PM. Reason: Added info re: "Meaning of 'S'"

Keep in mind, I see nothing that shows this ESC has a LVC (Low Voltage Cutoff), so it's possible to drain a LiPO too far down. If the directions with the ESC don't mention a LVC or that it is "LiPO compatible" I would suggest you find a "LiPO low voltage alarm" or "external LVC" to use. LiPO packs really don't like to get run way down. All my crawling ESC's have a LiPO LVC built-in, so I have no experiance using an external one.
