I need to run a servo winch on my scx10. I have a DX3s and I need to know if it's possible to install (and instructions on how to do it) a 3 position switch for the 3rd channel?

No it is not, it is a limitation in the software of the radio not a hardware issue.

What would be a good radio to use to run my winch? Bearing in mind I don't want to spend a fortune.

Hacked GT3B/C and never look back. You could run way more than one winch!

If you aren't able to get yourself a transmitter with a three position channel to run your winch, this will get you working: Winch Controller for Radio with 2 Position Third Channel |
