Default TR2 vs. EVX ?'s

Ok,

So the TR2 has the monster BEC amps @ 5, and the specs say it will handle 10 cells with a stock motor, max 12V.

The EVX says 1.5 amps BEC, and is rated up 14.4 volts which is 12 cells.

My question is this: If I find a way to mount 10 cells, or a 3c Lipo 11.1 to my stick clod with 2 55T Lathes and 2 645mg servos, will I smoke the TR2? And will I need a servo regulator if I run the EVX? I'd like to stay away from a Rx pack if I can...space for electronics and batteries are a little tough to come by.

Thanks, Stan

You should be able to run a 3 cell lipo with the TR2 and 2 lathe motors no problem. The big thing to worry about is the lipo voltage, the tr2 doesnt have a voltage cutoff.

You will need a voltage regulator or rx pack with the evx. 1.5 amps BEC isnt much at all and barely works for weak servo'd tlt's.

I don't understand why you want to use 10 cells... why not use a different wind motor instead?

And yes, you would likely need to use a regulator if you choose to use the EVX. Although two 645s don't suck too much power, 1.5 amps is going to suffer when both are full locked, and you're on the throttle.

I thought the 55t integy's were more than adequate, was I wrong to buy them? Maybe 10 is overkill. I'm new to it all, maybe 7 or 8 cells would be enough. Was a little concerned with running the Moab XL's. I did see where most running sticks were using 3 sc's on each axle- 6 total for 7.2 volts. And the 9c cbp that Kevin reccomends.

Maybe I'm a little more confused now. Would 6sc's be enough?

I know both of you have or have had sticks...what was you're best set up for comp's and such? Revolvers and Lipo might be too much for me with this 1st crawler, maybe just use 6-8 sc's and the 55t lathes and a TR2 with the 2 645mg's and run with it till I get a feel for how things work, and change it as I develop some crawling skills.

Excuse my noobisms...

Stan.

10 cells would work fine, but it would be fast as hell. 8 cells would be a better choice IMO, less weight, better wheelspeed regulation, and a bit more runtime. I think 55t motors on 6 cells are weak

Brushless and Lipo will do that:-P I'm thinking 8 3800-4200 cells will work, probably break the packs 4 on each axle and call it good with the TR2.

Thanks for the advice.
