Naked FXR's

So I hear all the buzz in the pro comp scene about decasing the FXR shortening wires, eliminating the on/off and removing posts. I gave it a try, let me know what you think...

it does, but they are NOT pushed down you can still push them to get into the programing stuff.

What temps are you asking for? The soldering iron?

Thanks for the great questions and feed back. When the next one is done I'll post up. need to go to the LHS to get one more.

I would avoid the electrical tape. I believe people have had issues. Corrosion X is a great choice.

Had zero issues with it in water..... Also that rubber junk for tool handles is awesome too.

They are looking for temps of the esc while it runs since fxr tends to run on high side due to no cooling fins. "thumbsup"

I read somewhere that people were having issues with both of these causing components to quit working. But I have not read anything bad about the corrosion x stuff.

The FXR used the power connectors as a sort of make shift heat sink. I think as long as you use an external BEC, and treat them as a comp rig would get used ( run a pack and allow some cool off time) they have proven reliable. I am not sure I would want to run pack after pack for hours on end without any heat sink and expect a long life.

Th temp of the coated fxr. My fxr (still in the case) runs at up to 145 when I run for a hard 20 minutes or so. I'm curious as to how hot it will run insulated like that and with no soldering posts.

Re: Naked FXR's

The FXR's decased will last for sometime, however having ran them for about 3 seasoned uncased and without the soldering tabs I've found out they do have a shelf life, and that shelf life has always seemed to be different.

Conformal coating is about the only coating I would use, it produces the less heat build up out of any other option which is key in making sure these last the longest possible

Good to know..... I'll try some of that.

Thanks for the input, I need it. I do have corrosion X but never tried it on electronics. Learn some thing new every day. I will let you know about the temps after I run it a few times.

So here is kind of what the final set looks like. Attachment 217381

Not bad but if you need to get them smaller you can. If you stick them back to back and use 18awg wire then shrink wrap them you can get them much smaller and sealed up better i think. I run them in my super and my 2.2 with the same setup shown below. There are also two BEC's under the fxr's.
