| how many servos can one castle bec run?
Hey there, I have a scx10 and was wondering if anyone knows if i can run both my steering servo and my servo winch off of the same castle 10 amp bec. I wire my bec into the servo leads so could i just solder the second servo in line with the steering? would it be to much draw for one bec or because the winch is so seldomly used could I pull it off? Any facts or assistance would be and will be greatly appreciated! |

I run a MMP one cell in my 1.9, so I use a single Castle 10A set to 8.4V to power everything. Rx, 7954 and 3racing winch with power/control wires bridged. It's never had a problem and I could probably add a few LEDs.

With your set up you should be ok. I would not run more than 2 but since you probably will not load both the servo and the winch at the same time you should be ok .

It really should be OK. I run 2 hitec 7950's on my Wraith (front and rear steering )and don't have any issues unless I really load both servos hard at the same time. It will bug out a little, but recovers fine. Unless your really running a power hungry servo that is bound up at the same time your running your winch hard I would not see any issues. If you are worried about it you could run the BEC pro. I run 2 7950's and a 7980 off of it on my super without any issues. It is larger, but IMO well worth it if you plan on adding anything else in the future.

Interesting question to say the least.... Make me wonder who's running multi off of one bec. I have 3 one to each steering and one to winch. Figured $20 each is quite cheap really. Also if one fails all rest will still work. All on c3 rig..... Kinda lol

On my scaler I use 1 bec- to run my steering, dig and winch servos. Servos are all hitec 7955. I never really used all at once. Used steering and dig or steering and winch. I have had never issues On my super I did use 1 bec- to power 2 hitec 7980, I've had no issues at all with this set up. |

Your two biggest limits will be the reaction speed and servo efficiency. Cheaper servos tend to be inefficiency and amp hungry, Savox is a good example. If you "twitch" a servo it draws a lot too. On a name brand servo like futaba about 800 ounce/ inches of power seems to be a good margin for servo power in a crawler with the slower speed versions.

I just wired up my CC bec to 2 Savox 1256 to control my 4ws. the CC bec says it can put out 10amps @ less than 12V input. RATED: Power HD 1501/1217HV, Savox 1256/1267HV, and more... - Radios & Servos @ URC Forums and from this link I figure the 1256's can only draw 6 combined. I soldered the connections as castles instructions say their connectors are only good for 5amps. so far so good but I have only run it around in the house! heading outside tomorrow for some test runs! |
