Bec installation smoke I attempted to add a ccbec wired directly servo, yellow wire cut and taped off from bec and black and red wired directly to servo. Cut and taped off black and red from rx to servo and added bec power wires to the battery plug. I left the battery/bec plug in the axial 2.4 receiver from esc plugged in an plugged in a battery and a little poof of smoke, thinking I had left the switch on I quickly inadvertantly turned it on and more esc smoke. My question is are there any electronics salvageable. Did I fry my servo, reciever, lights, esc? The esc is an ae-2. I know what I did wrong what do I need to get it up and going again. |
Re: Bec installation smoke What was the BEC Voltage programmed to? where was the first poof of smoke from? Does not sound like you did anything wrong unless you left out some details. |
Re: Bec installation smoke I do not know the voltage bec was set at, new from lhs. The first slight poof of smoke and pop could have come from the wraith electronics box with wire lid screws not fully tightend. The esc is mounted next to electronics box like on rtr wraith so Im not sure where first pop and smoke come from. When I turned on the switch to esc it smoked and fins got warm. I will open box and see if anything looks burned up. |
Re: Bec installation smoke Stock is 5.1v on the CCBEC. AE2 has 5v BEC. I'm not sure why smoke would have come out at first unless the lights were also being powered. There would need to be another component with a complete circuit from the battery for magic smoke to release. Still doesn't sound like a bad circuit. |
Re: Bec installation smoke Thanks for the help. I am a master electrician specializing in automation and the fact I fried my rc truck is embarrassing. I am just gonna start all over again with a brxl, receiver and servo. |
Re: Bec installation smoke On second investigation the wraith light kit was plugged in to the battery port. |
Re: Bec installation smoke Can't say I understand why it fried either. BEC was wired only to the servo, so unless there was a ground loop hiding in there somewhere there is nothing jumping out as incorrect. |
