Default 2 wire sv2

So I purchased a used crawler with a castle sv2 speed controller. For an unknown reason someone cut the white wire, leaving only 1/2 of an inch sticking out of the case. I want to replace the 3rd wire. Can I solder a new wire to the stub or do I have to go inside the case and try to replace. The entire wire. In other words will a splice cause current flow problems?

You can just solder a piece of wire to the stub.

Why do you want it? I will assume you want to run a brushless motor?

Unless you've got a kick-ass soldering gun or station, and are good at soldering, I would not attempt to solder in a new wire to the board. They use a solder that most general purpose guns won't touch, and if you park the iron on the board for a few minutes trying to get it to flow, there is a good chance you'll cook a component long before you get the wire attached.

Soldering onto the stub is your safest bet.

Ok...thanks for the info guys. No I don't have a kick a$$ solder station. Hell I still struggle installing deans plugs. I will attach to the stub.
