| HH 7T Puller Motor Questions
I bought a 7t puler motor from a member here. I am having trouble finding a pinion for a 4mm shaft. I measured the shaft at .157", with a set of calipers. Does anyone know where I can buy these? I have tried drilling them out, but it doesn't turn out very good. I did find some 4mm id, .45 wall aluminum tubing at lhs. I was going to make a sleeve and use a 5 mm pinion. Do you think this would work? I also was wondering what gearing you are using with a 3s? 80/20 was to high, motor got hot real quick. Thanks for the input and help. This is what the sleeve looks like. Not a very good pic, but I think you can get the idea. Last edited by V3500; 12-04-2012 at 09:18 PM. |

Pullers aren't 4mm shafts. You bought a motor that was not mine. Drilling out a regular pinion from 1/8" to 4mm is easy enough. |

Its starting to make sence. I took a few pics, can you help me ID the motor. The only markings on it a 6T on the pinion side cap, and a timing mark on the other end of the can. The shaft is .157, I checked it again today. I still have all the pm on the deal. I am a little pissed. Here are the pics. Last edited by V3500; 12-05-2012 at 08:06 AM. | |

It is a 6t Promax motor. Same factory that made my Pullers, I just didn't sell it or do my work to it.

Yeah, keep it on 2s lipo. 3s will be really fast and fun but it will run very hot and wear brushes fast.

I know my motors pretty well and side x side to a HH 7t and these 4mm shaft 7t's there is really no difference..... tweak'd timing? ... better brushes? 3mm shaft.... maybe, if that. they are the same damn motor. if you run a sleeve like you say. or turn down the shaft, or use a press and drill out a 32p pinion you will be fine. thats 3 options. pretty good odds i think. you got a stellar deal on that motor. on a bad azz motor at that. ill buy it back. I sold 4 of these and everyone else loved them and still runnin them today!! newbs too! like JRH said they are the same motor he bought, just doesnt have the 3mm shaft. I think thats the only difference. when i compared them I seemed to see that the brushes, brush springs, comm, magnets, bearings, windings had not been touched, coated the same. maybe balanced better?? I dunno. oh and BTW, do those timing marks look factory?? c'mon man. I put those there. no HH or any cobalt has that. it may not be a "BRANDED HH motor" but its the same motor. I was told by the fleabay dipstik i bought them from they were HH. so thats why I tore them down and compared with MY HH 7t Zi already had. again...SAME. even the shaft is 4mm at the bearings. just HH has been turned down. JRH can chime in and prolly shoot me the hell out the sky with buck shot cobalt motor knowledge but I think I may be right in MOST of these areas. and Ill do whatever it takes to make a picky person happy thats what Im here for. happy smiles!! yaaay!! fluffy bunnies too!! kiding Last edited by AxialJeepster; 12-05-2012 at 08:14 PM. |

I am not asking for anything. I feel that I was mislead. I will chalk this up as a lesson learned. That said, If I knew it wasnt a HH motor, I may not have purchased it. Someone engraved 6t on the motor. I can't find any specs on this motor. I also was not going to bring your name up on a plublic forum. How low do I have to gear to run on 3s?

I wouldn't recommend 3s at all on a 6t, but if you do gear it as low and slow as possible. Yes it is basically the same motor as our Cobalt Pullers, but it is not a Cobalt Puller. If you want a replacement armature with 1/8" shaft, I have plenty here in 6 and 7 turn. |
