| Need help finding long screw for servo horn
I have a Hitech HS-645 MG with a War Pig winch spool. Does anyone know what type of long screw I need to hold it on and where I can get it? It needs to be about 16mm long.

Hitec sells a pack of screws but none are that long. ALSO, hitec uses a funky threading so it might be a tough road. Maybe get ahold of the spool maker to see what they use. Edit: 2.6mm x what ever length you need. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTW34 longest is 12mm in this pack. Last edited by The Violator; 12-15-2012 at 07:46 PM. |

Drill out and tap the servo to 3mm, that is my recommendation to everyone. The servo gear/spline is aluminum so it's easy to do. Makes it easy to find the screw, replace one and torque the thing down.

| Re: Need help finding long screw for servo horn I thought it was steel. Maybe just on the stronger servos, or are all the hitecs AL.

screw size for Hitec servos are m2.6. m2.5 screws will not stay tight and have fallen out for me. a 10 or 12 mm long screw should be long enough.try pressing the pulley on a little further, the splines on those pulley are small and require more force to seat them properly. good luck.

| Re: Need help finding long screw for servo horn i know i'm pulling up an old thread. i have a servo winch that is going to have a custom spool that is a fair bit wider than any 2.6mm screw available. the servo i'm using is a 7955tg. seeing this thread has me concerned about drilling/tapping it to a 3mm, which was my plan. anyone done that before? advice?
