| SC10 4x4 Steering Servo??
I'm new to RC.... Been playing around for a few months and recently got into racing. I just ordered a SC 4x4 KIT... it does not come with any electronics. I have picked and purchased a ESC and Brushless Motor.... Now I'm looking for a servo that wont kill my budget. What specs can I get by with.. Min Torque & Speed? What models do you recommend? I would like to keep costs under $50.00. Thanks for the help. |

For a SC truck ... one of these will be plenty: Tower Pro Digital MG946r servo The nice feature about that one is b/c of the price you can get a second one as a backup in case you do start getting into heavier applications. Or if you are like me and break stuff crashing all the time Last edited by Locked Up; 12-16-2012 at 10:41 AM. | |

That's a high voltage servo. Being new to RC, I'm not sure if that is the best way to go for you. I would stick to some kind of standard servo in the torque and speed range that you want.

I guess I will need a BEC.... I thought I would be able to hook it direct to my LIPO... I'm having trouble finding a BEC with 7.4V out put.... that does not requiere a computer link to program... does anybody know of one? |

6 volts should be fine to run the servo, allbeit slower with less torque. The main reason you need a BEC in this application is to take the servo load off the receiver. It WILL brown out w/o a BEC. Now this is just a guess, but I would bet that you could run that servo straight off the Lipo (It is classified as 'high voltage'). Red to red, black to black, and the signal wire only goes to the receiver. EDIT - Saw your other post: You will wire it to the power wires, not the ballance lead. I wrote to SAVOX and asked them if there HV Servo can handle the extra volts... here is thier response. Servos and batteries are rated on the load current. This means that the servo can be ran on 2s unregulated power, but in the event of say 3s power the servo would not be able to have the BEC voltage set to 8.4 it would need to be set at 7.4 as BEC's limit Load current not open current.
