Default Radio question

Im kind of a noob to radios and stuff like that, but not a noob to crawling.
Im running my SCX10 off a DX5E radio. My truck has a Novak Rooster ESC and Integy 55T motor. Im having bad glitching problems right as it goes from being stationary, to moving super slow. What Im thinking about doing is switching to a pistol grip radio. These are the things Im looking for in a radio.
Obviously forward and reverse and left and right, I can run my light lights off of the battery channel, but I also want a channel to control my winch.
Please help, that was I can sell my DX5E and buy a new radio.

Without getting into a discussion on who makes the best radio, I think its safe to say. They're plenty of radio manufactures out there that all have claims to have the best radio or fastest latency, blah blah blah.
For me though it boils down to functionality and price. As to an answer to your question, though its been discussed a few times here, and a simple use of the search function usually will turn up good results.

Flysky FS-iT4

That radio is all fancy new, loaded with telemetry, temp ect. for alot less then spectrum. Though I couldnt tell you much about it other then what I have read.

I do however use a FS-gt3b. Here is a link to a thread that has to do with all the hacks that have been done to this radio.

GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread

That radio is a pistol grip that can have up to 8 multi position channels, depending on the firmware install you do. Losikid provides great customer service, and is always more then willing to answer any questions that you may have. Or you can just have him do the install for you... Either way this is by far the best bang for your buck right now.

Use the search function its your bestfriend.... Happy trailings

Do you like your current radio other than the glitch?? If so, how about we try to resolve the issue since it could show up in a different radio as well.

Did the glitching just "happen", or has it always been there?
What steering servo?
Do you run an external BEC (especially if your servo is much over 200inoz.)
What batteries? (brand, chemistry, label voltage, "C" rating if it's a LiPO)
Are the TX batteries good?
How much time on the motor....when was it last serviced?

Its really weird. I had all of the electronics in one truck and it rarely ever glitched, then I swapped all of the electronics into my other rig, and it does it more. It might just be me, but it seems like whenever I mess with the electronics, it glitches, then kind of fixes itself?? I dont know if this is possible, but after about a week, it is almost gone.
No BEC
Venom 7.4v 20c 400mah
TX Batteries are brand new
It was a stock Axial motor from about 3 years ago that I only used a couple times, but I just ordered a new 35t RC4WD motor.

I had a Spektrum and it was real glitchy... I gave it to my nephew for Christmas (w/a MRC) and picked up a Futaba 4PL... I love the Futaba!

Spectrum makes a glitch buster capacitor for there radio's, about 5 bucks and just plugs in, that will stop the glitching.

I hope the battery listing is a mistake (like, it should be a 4000mah).

If it's a 400mah 20C, I will say that is likely your issue right there. The mah & "C" are so low you get a huge voltage drop.

If it's a 4000mah, then you're OK. Your mah is high enough to make up for the "C".

You may just have some dirty connections, maybe the steering linkage is a little tight but "free's up" with use, etc.

You didn't list a servo, but anything ~200inoz & up could use an external BEC.

So it's ~125inoz., no need for an external BEC (It's won't hurt, but not an issue). At some point you may want to up the torque, but your choice down the road.

Have you tried using different electronics. Ie. different servo and esc? Also you dont have to use a spectrum brand glitch buster. You can use any make, they are all pretty cheap, and all will work for any radio gear.

I swapped my servo to my expensive one, and the glitching has gone away almost 100%. The only time it happens is if I purposely make it happen, but other than that it stopped, could it have been the servo?

Yeah sounds like it. My traxxas servo is really glitchy I have to pick the front tires off the ground and give the transmitter wheel a couple of turns from left to right to make it stop glitching. I also have a couple other servos that I test to make sure that it was indeed my servo that was doing it and not my radio. I have a couple glitch busters but I dont like to run them. Not only do they take up space, unless your running a once glitch free system seems to me you're just masking a sometimes more critical issue.

Anyhow glad you got it figured out.
