Default transmitter/receiver

I need help. Purchased my first crawler, Venom Creeper. got the rear steering and remote lock. I need a good fair priced radio/receiver for it . Any suggestions?

You will likely find down the road to not use the remote lock.....read up in the Venom Creeper forum.

So, right now you need a 4 channel radio. I recommend sticking with a 2.4ghz radio, no issues with getting jammed with other people.
Lots of newer ones also have "multi-model memory" so you can set the TX for different rigs and easily swap between them with a single TX.

I stick to Futaba & FlySky.

Futaba, 4PL and be done (my son runs one). Additional RX's can be a bit expensive.

FlySky, GT3B or GT3C.....either one hacked so they do up to 8 channels and you can get it pre-hacked from LosiKid (www.OverkillRC.com) with a RX for under $100.
I run a hacked GT3B in a dual ESC MOA 2.2 comp rig.

As to Spektrum, I see way more issues in rigs than pretty much any other brand. There are peeps that love them.

Airtronics MT-4 is another choice.

I don't run Spektrum or Airtronics so can't give 1st hand info.

I personally run an MT-4 and it's a great radio. I came into that from Spektrum. The Spektrum I had was one from back when Spektrum was still Spektrum and it never let me down. The newer Spektrum radios though IMO are just junk. Forget about quality customer service from Horizon too. They have went down hill in that department over the last few years. I have never owned Futaba or Flysky, but was considering a Flysky and ended up with an Airtronics if that says anything. It's personal preference really, but to me you can't go wrong with spending some money on a quality radio.

i am going to second a GT3B. i would get one and hack it or get a hacked one from losikid. a VR mod is always nice.

i run one setup for 3 channels having channel 3 be a 3 position. i ended up going a different route with the VR after chatting with some EE buddys. i also used a STM8S board and loaded losikids firmware. plus a couple home brew mods. the sky is the limit with that radio.
