Which transmitter/receiver?

I want to buy ONE transmitter for anything I want to do with a truck (crawler, SCT, scaler, basher, whatever). That means I want the ability to program everything, dual steering, Dig, lights, winch, whatever. Oh, and I should mention that I want a pistol grip setup. I already have 7 ch dual thumbsticks for aircraft, but that's another story. I don't like the feel of that when driving RC. So here I am. $ is no concern, but I only want to buy this once. Please help me NOT make a mistake! Is there such a setup?

Well, I see that Spektrum, Futaba and airtronics all make 4 ch transmitters. 4 looks like the max right now. Am I missing anything? Does anyone have an opinion or preference between these options?

I believe the 3 mentioned will all do what you want with enough programming. You might want to head down to your LHS and see what feels best in hand. Do you like the grip, the weight, the feel of the wheel and the trigger movement? Then check out the menu functions and see what jives with your brain. For me, I love the Futaba, but others will say Spektrum is the way to go, and others like Airtronics. Just my .02

From the "biggies", I would chose a Futaba (4PL or 4PK).

Another choice is the hacked GT3B or GT3C, both can do up to 8 channels for under $100. Check out www.OverkillRC.com.

Wow... I checked out Overkill and that seems to be what I'm looking for. I want a controller that can pretty much do it all and that seems to be it. Thanks for the direction Charlie. I would not have even begun to have looked there without your advice.
