Default Bulldog winch

Hi-
I jjust got a bulldog winch. I only have a 2 position 3rd channel.(it only goes in and out, no stop) When i goes in all the way, it automaticly stops....is it ok to leave it like that, or will i kill the engoine. it sounds like it stops completley.....
