never in a crawler but used it in my rally car. For the light weight car geared to the moon it was fine. Plenty of power, but we are talking about a 3lb onroad car, not a 6+lb crawler. That being said, I went to a 27t brushed motor after a while and am happier with power delivery and top speed (same gearing) |

| Re: anyone used this? Tacon 2848-540XL Brushless Motor 3000KV would this work for light crawling in an scx10? What gearing would you suggest for some speed, and low amounts of cogging? I have a sv2 and am running 6cell nimh 5000mah. I'm thinking of upgrading to these lipos: Value Hobby R/C Hobby Store (Bensenville, Illinois): GForce 25C 5000mAh 3S 11.1V Car LiPO |

No, that is not a true 540 can and will have crap for torque. Pick one that is a 3650.

If you want to run brushless in a crawler, you're going to want a true 3650 motor (as stated above) in the 17.5-21.5t range and sensored. Sensorless motors, in general, cog really bad in crawlers and don't make for a fun time. If you don't like the wheelspeed, try 3s (or 4s) and gear accordingly. Gear down & volt up |

21.5 is to slow for a scaler IMO, 17.5 or 13.5. 13.5 is about the same speed as a 27t and handles high gearing and high voltages much better than a 27t. I've considered 10.5 a few times. With the Sv2 your better sticking with brushed, maybe take a look at pullers until you can upgrade to a MMP. |

The Venom system: Waterproof -good Sensorless-bad Smaller than a true 540-bad (can is deeply finned like the 2848-540 you posted earlier) |

The reveiw said that on 2s he could spin the wheel s, and that they experienced no cogging. And that was with a 4x4 short course truck

| Re: anyone used this? You do realize that the Venom motor is the same exact motor you linked to earlier, just in a different color and with a different name on it? We are making suggestions on what to buy, and you are more or less ignoring them. Go and buy whatever looks good. Have fun, hope it works out for you. |

sorry man.... I just don't have any $$$ but i want a brushless motor so I don't have to worry about the 12t dying on me. I would like to have something that is somewhat quick so that i can have some fun with it on the streets. don't have much places to crawl, but when I go camping and there is somewhere I won't think i cant do that because of my motor.

I have been running the duratrax element in my exo for sometime now, it has a 4 pole 3900 kv motor, needed something brushless to get me going, this worked good for me, and low cost , 99.00 bucs, still running it,still happy, not sure about using it in a crawler, just another option you can look into.
