Default Steering problem.

I have an scx 10 with a tekin fxr it had a hitec 7955 for about a year with an outcry bec. I ran 2s and 3s lipos for about a year, and the other day I am crawling a rock drainage ditch and the servo quit and was pretty hot to the touch. I figured the servo just quit it had been thrashed pretty hard. So I changed the servo out with the hitec 7950 off my comp berg. It lasted two days and quit and was kinda warm but not as hot as the 7955. I suspected the bec, so I order a hitec 7954 and put it and the old castle bec from my berg which i replaced recently with a new one (wires were a little ratty but otherwise performed fine.) It works pretty good but occasionally it will get in a bind and take the steering away from it but still has power to the truck and after it is out of the bind goes back to normal but is not as good as I think it should be, and the servo is not getting hot. Do I need to get a new bec before I cook another pricey servo? Or is something else going on? Sorry so long just trying to thoroughly describe what is going on.

Yes, the CC BEC may be bad.
Yes, I thought a HiTec 7954 was a great deal......toasted 2 of them....decided otherwise.
Now....I just do a 7950 for 2.2 comp rigs, 7955 for 1.9 comp rigs.

Are your CC BEC's with the external cap (black can ~3/8" diameter hanging out the back....newer version) or the earlier version??
The earlier versions tended to "die for no good reason".

I am sure its the older version came with my berg I bought used. I took the bec off was working fine I changed to a novak m2 on my berg and rewired it. I've got a new castle bec.I just wanted some thoughts whether it was the bec or not. Thanks guys for the help and quick response .......................Nope, sorry no capacitor, probably still bad I beat my rigs pretty good. Thanks again.
