Default Bec question

Ok I have put plenty of bec's in and all my rigs have them but I picked up a tf2 and I know I need the power for my steering servo but I want to run a 3 cell and it says a BEC is required. My question is the shift servo. Will have a problem if I leave that powered by the receiver power or should the BEC power the two servos? Thanks!!

Shift/dig servos are usually very low torque (maybe ~100inoz) thus, are covered by the ESC BEC.
Use the internal BEC to cover the steering servo if it's a higher torque.

If you wire the external BEC through the RX (not my 1st choice), it should be fine with both servos.

Ok thanks. Why do they say a BEC is required with a 3 cell?

For some ESC's, the effort to convert a 3S LiPO input is hard enough without having to feed the BEC output as well.
