| DX5E return to center left joy stick
Okay I have searched and the only answer i've found is to rotate the left joystick on the DX5E to get a return to center. I want to get the throttle to return to center. Anyone know how? Thank you JJ |

pull the back off of the radio exposing the backs of the controls, compare the 2 and either (1) find and add the missing spring or (2) switch the joysticks inside the radio. thats what i did to mine, (2) and really like it. i can drive with my left hand and film with the right. then add your other accessories to the other 3 channels. you can also replace the 2 position toggle switches to 3 position. in-off-out up off down. lmk how this works out for you. |

my idea is because i need all 5 channels, is to get another radio or figure out the lever system on the right joystick and modify it to work, or get another mode 2 radio and u solder the throttle switch I have now, and solder in a whole new joystick. Would that work? in my mind it would, but it's been a little loopy... |

So you want all stick axis to centre? Or you want the left throttle (mode 2) stick to centre? Sorry I'm a little confused. If you want all 4 axis to centre then contact any good Spektrum dealer and they should have the return spring, lever and necessary hardware or contact Spektrum direct. Do you want 5 Channels to be active or do you want all 6 channels to be active? It is a 6 Channel TX when used with a 6 Channel RX as the Trainer switch is the 6th channel, it can be modified with a 2 position switch. If you want to change modes there is a 6th switch to the right of the MIX switch hidden, if you remove the back of the radio, remove the screws securing board at the bottom and pull back carefully and flick the 6th switch it has now changed modes. |

I am going to be modifying the throttle stick on a mode 2 radio to return to center. I have contacted spektrum and horizon hobby about it, they both will not supply the parts necassary to do this, so I ordered a radio off of ebay last night for 30 bucks and I can either un-solder the current stick and solder in a new one or I can swap the levers and springs into the current radio from the one I purchased last night for parts. I am going to be using a 6 channel receiver and will be swapping the trainer switch for a three position switch as well, or I may be able to cannibalize the radio off of ebay and have the two two postion switches. That I am not worried about, it is mostly the return to center. The reall crappy part of it all was I called horizon and they said that they could do the work and make it that way, so I sent it to them to have it done and still be under warranty and when I got it back they put a note on the packing slip that they are not able to modify the DX5E since it has been discontinued. |

Thats pretty crap service from Spektrum in the US, wouldnt be, I should say,, isn't the case here in Australia. This is why I suggested to contact them direct. I have supplied a lot of customers with all necessary parts to have RTC on the throttle of a lot of Futaba and Spektrum radios and never had a problem getting the parts. So your DX5e is unserviceable because it has been discontinued? Then they should have given you an updated radio for free, I bet you they would have fixed it if it was a warranty issue. |
