Default Traxxas electronics suitable for crawler?

I have a 2wd Stampede with the stock XL5 and Titan 12t, which I will soon be upgrading to a brushless setup. If I were to pick up a crawler kit, say an SCX10, could I use any of these existing electronics in it, or are they no good for a crawler setup?

That's kinda what I was figuring on. If it's not worth it and I'll just be wanting someone else in a day, I'll just skip it.

They are servicable and even waterproof however the XL5 doesnt have any kind of brake setup at all so going downhill and stopping uphill crawling could be an issue. A solid choice for a FOFF type build but lower end for a crawler

It's what I ran for a while... With the SCX10 and stock gearing it'll crawl pretty smooth, but requires more finesse to prevent rolling forward or backward. I'm currently running an XL5 with 2 27t Axial motors. Will be upgrading to a Novak or Tekin brushless crawling setup soon.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'm looking to get a kit because I want to build it, and was hoping I get some use out of my XL5 before I drop a bunch of money on new electronics

A XL-5 works good in a scale trucks. But I would go with a higher turn motor. Those titan 12t are not smooth at low speeds. But it will be a good starter set up. Have fun and let us know how it goes, if you decide to buy a kit.
