| DX3e vs Stock radio
Ive been looking around and have noticed that it seems fairly easy to snag a DX3e in the 40-60 range. I have the factory radio that came with my LNC rtr kit and i dont like it. Its chintzy, doesnt have many tuning options, and I dont like the feel. I know the DX3e is still pretty basic but it looks like its got a little more adjustability and looks like its a much higher quality piece. I dont have any need for a 3rd channel or anything like that since I dont have a dig or auxiliaries. Would the upgrade be worth the cost? Im not looking to spend 100 bucks or more on a new radio as the one i have does get it done, I was just wondering if im tossing away 50 bucks or if the DX3e is nice enough to justify the expense. |

I bought a DX2E to replace an old FM radio I had, it's not too bad. I don't know that it's any better than one you would get in a RTR, it really doesn't have any options. I think the only difference in the DX3E is the 3rd channel.

A DX3E is def. and upgrade compared to your Losi controller. It has adjustable endpoints for all three channels and is a lot smother imo. And if you want to add a dig, lights or a winch you would have that option as well.

I'm a Futaba guy, but I got a spektrum in a trade once. Good quality equipment. To me, it would be worth it just for the end point adjustments. 3rd channel is always nice so you can add something later. We can only assume you will have money to spend in the future... may as well sink it in your crawler. That's what most of use do, lol. I say go for it. You could wait a bit because with the new Vaterra Twin Hammers released with a 3 channel spektrum, they might be sold as folks just want the truck. Consider waiting a bit and checking the for sale section on here or ebay. All the best! |

Thanks for the replies! I was just able to snag one on the cheap from someone here in the classifieds. It came out of a twin hammers kit |

the dx3e has a three position 3rd channel...ie digs require them. if you are steping up from a FM it as your radio would be a good up grade. if you are leaving a AM radio it is a LEAP! in a upgrade. the only thing with the dx3e is it is still non computer radio, meaning you have knobs which can be bumped while you trans port it resualting in you have to retrim the settings. over all it is a good radio and the best part is since losi mass produce the mcx-300 rx for their rtr the recievers are super cheap $25-35.00 each. you can not go wrong with your buy |

on a bad note, the steering just went out on my dx3e. it came with an rtr 22. dont know if i should try to get spektrum to help or just fix and mod it myself, thinking about extra channels/functions.
