Micro MOA
 

I am considering building a Micro MOA crawler using 2 Micro-T Diff. I have almost everything lined up except electronics. Is there an ESC small enough that has a drag brake? Also what is the smallest motor I could use for a crawler? I might have to step it up in scale and use mini-T diffs? Does anyone know of a good motor mounted diff? Another thing is I can gear it down some but, nowhere near what some of these crawlers are. I'll be using a GT3B not hacked quite yet, but esc mixing will be available.

Castle Sidewinder Micro Pro or Tekin FX-R are both small, adjustable, good drag brake, instant reverse.
They can also run any battery you can fit in that sized rig as well as any brushed motor you can fit.

Good info and I see the sidewinder go on classifieds quite often. Still don't know about the gearing situation, maybe use a winch or what motors to run.

Spend some time in the losi micro area. There are some minoqlo and custom MOA builds. The micro sidewinder is great but still can be expensive used. Many like using the xys 10 and 20 amp escs. They are smaller than the castle and are less than $12 shipped for the 20amp and less than $10 for the 10amp. Both come in brake and no brake versions. As far as the motor I very highly recommend the handwound micro motors from Danally. Links can also be found in the "the new what to buy and where" thread. His motors have noticeably better control & torque, less heat, better battery life and are very inexpensive

What does xys stand for?

I honestly dont even remember if it has a full name. They are sold as xys on ebay and a website. The site and ebay seller is something like flying model heli. Ive posted links a few times and cephas has added links and info to his "new what to buy and where" sticky in the losi micro area. They are even smaller than the micro sidewinder and factory esx/rx combo

Thanks for the help. These ESC are a bargain at 9.50! I think I'll have to use some spare motors laying around $25 is a little high considering I'd need two.

I picked up a Tekin B1 for $23 NIB. What's the difference between it and the B1R?
