| BEC - Yes,..I know I need one,....but...
Yes. I've read the Yes you need a BEC thread, but I am looking for info on which might be the best overall, or most popular, or most common that is used. I have a Novak Ballistic Goat3 21.5 combo that came with a BEC, I think it is 5A. (R1) I also have a Novak Timbuk2 13.5 combo that came with one, I think this is 3A, could be 5A. (Wraith) I have MMP SCT ESC with a 1410/3800 combo with a CC BEC which is 10A in my SC10. I now have a THammer and am planning to upgrade to a run fast with the occasional crawl and have a MMP SCT 1415/2700 but it did not come with a BEC. I plan on adding lights as well. My questions; Is the Castle the best for this setup? Would the CC BEC be the best overall simply because of the A rating? What other options for BEC are there? Would a CAP be better? Where? (never used one of these but have seen them as an option.) Thanks ORA |

There is a reason everyone runs a castle bec. It works.

Castle Creations 10A BEC is fine for almost all of us. Some peeps with dual steering servos "may" need either 2 BEC's or a single Castle BEC Pro. Since you have/will have 2 Castle ESC's get the Castle BEC & the Castle link. Then you can program faster in the ESC's as well as change the BEC output voltage. |

I have a different opinion! The one reason for using CC BEC is if you want to have a higher voltage than 6.0V. If you think 6V is enough then there are plenty of other (cheaper) BECs to pick from! A strong steering servo will pull less than 5A peak, and typically <3A while in use. I use a Turnigy 3A (5A peak) BEC for my Hitec HS-7954SH, and have no problems. I use the ESC's internal BEC for the Rx and lights though. |
