Most of the hardcore guys run the 13.5.

If you are still running the stock Nightcrawler "trans" if you wanna call it that, a good 35T brushed motor will be a good choice. The stock Losi motor is actually a 35 labled as a 55. If you are running the Comp Crawler trans with the dig, you will definitely want a brushless setup since they are hard on brushed motors. Just about any ESC will work in that thing since the axles act as a natural drag brake.

A brushed motor with that trans will be ok. I ran mine with one until I installed the Dig trans from the Comp .

If you are just going to run brushed, Holmes Hobbies is hard to beat. I run a 16T Crawlmaster with their BRXL and 3s and it has gobs of power.

As said before. A brushed motor in a Losi would be a poor choice and will wear out fast. The drivetrain needs the torque of a brushless since there is so much power lost due to the worm gears. So no brushed motor will last to long. Your best bet is 13.5t or 17.5t brushless system.

while a brushed motor will hold up in the LNC, i would still go brushless. one of the biggest downfalls to brushless is the drag brake. well in the losi with worm gears you don't need drag brake! i would skip the 17.5 and go straight to a 13.5t tho. after a while of running mine i found that the 17.5 had gobs of torque but just didn't have the instant wheelspeed to bump up and over alot of obstacles. the 13.5t still retained the torque needed AND added that burst of wheelspeed needed for steep climbs, slippery rocks and bump overs.

just remember whichever motor you choose, make SURE its a sensored system!!!
