Just curious why there isn't much chat about the dx4? Does everyone dislike it that much? I saw maybe 2-3 threads at the most and a few were quite set against it. Ill be honest, I am a spektrum fan boy. I've owned a 6i, 7, and an 8. I also have a 3e and I have had zero problems with any of them. My car collection is growing and I'm looking to down size radio's and the 4 seems to fit my bill. I'm down for people's HONEST oppinions about it.

I got one for Christmas and I love it but I'm a new driver and have never had anything to compare it to but the stock axial remote and it feels very nice to hold.

I'm not a Spektrum user, but I have read a lot of threads. For a "simple rig" (no slam intended) a basic 3/4 channel radio is fine. The issues seem to come in when you want to: -Run dual ESC's with mixing -Run a front & rear steering servo -Run a winch and set it to not drift at "off" This is where some radios are lacking. A "cheap" hacked GT3B will clobber a lot of other radios (yes, I have a hacked GT3B) in doing a lot of the above. If you're running a single ESC with steering, most radios are fine (especially if 2.4ghz UNLESS you like running underwater...). It's when you start stretching the radio that the issues show up. Pan cars, SC, etc. don't show the issues. If the Dx4 does what you want, great, keep using it. |

Well I don't think I'll ever do dual esc's. 4 wheel steering is "iffy". But if it can't run my winch then I don't want it. You would think 4 channel could do all this though.

In my scx10 I run a rc4wd winch and controller it works like a charm I also run my lights off it and on my wraith I run the same winch set up and 4ws with no problems at all (never tried duel esc but I heard it works)

DX4S is a nice radio. I had a hacked GT3B, but it never impressed me, except for how cheap it was.

| Re: Dx4 I have the 3racing winch that works off of a 3 position switch. Does the rc4wd work the same?

If the Dx4 can be setup with a 3pos switch then my employee price at my Local Hobbytown makes it worth it. | |

When it comes down to it, spektrum has never really shown much commitment to the crawler crowd. I think they need a firmware update to make the mixing right to really max out a duel esc and rear steer. I had a gt3b and it was great but you do need some programmer smarts to make it work. I also was not entirely happy with the response timing. Got a Futaba 4pl for $200 and have not looked back. The price and options compared to the dx4 is just not comparable. |

| What has two thumbs and a Dx4? <~~~~~~ This guy..... LOL!! Hey thanks everyone who put in there 2cents about the radio, positive and negative. I kept my faith in Spektrum and I'm happy about the purchase. I haven't even opened the manual and figured out the menu. Its not too far off from my Dx8. If you guys want we can keep posting here about this radio please feel free too and we will keep this thread going. If not, no biggie we can take it to a more approriate thread.... |
