Dual motor
 

Anyone here know anything about running dual motors? I was looking at some upgrade parts I came across a dual motor mount. To me it looks as if you would link the motors up parallel and both pinions would ride along the spur. Does this sound right? If so, any success? I know itll increase the torque but wasnt sure on yalls feedback. Pros/Cons? Thanks guys!

I believe it's more for show. I would have a hard time believing they would always run in sync perfectly. If they aren't matched up close I would think there would be some fighting against one another. RC Sparks on youtube has a project overkill that he ran a double motor plate on. It's setup just how you are saying. Check it out. It worked for him. Wicked truck.

The other issue would be the huge weight up high. Motors are one of the heaviest items on a truck. x2 is even worse. Again just for the 'cause this is America and I can' factor, go for it. Make Tim Allen proud. I would like to see one with 2 13.5 or 18.5 brushless motors on say 6s... May god have mercy on your drivetrain.

duals work great on my 6x6, its a 12lb pig and one motor was gutless, couldn't crawler over a pillow without stalling.twin 65's brought it to life. weight not a problem in my case, running 6 weighted 2.2s.
likes eating up milliamps though

Dual motors are not just for show... Maybe if your building a rock buggy or something, but then again if it's a HUUUGE buggy you may need 2 to get adequate torque and wheel speed. I used 2 55T motors on my chevy dually. It's also a hair over 12lbs. But I built the truck to pull and while one 55T would move the truck adequately, 2 give it some good poweron it own and allow it to tow stuff without any problems. But again if you just have a plain SCX10 or trail finder I would say dual motors is a waste of money and will only hurt overall performance of the vehicle and run times.

if you have a heavy rig it would be worth it, other than that dont really see the need. I could be wrong but I've never had a need to run 2 motors on any of my rigs and the heaviest one is about 9lbs
