Default lipo batteries

quick question. I use thunder power lipo's in me axial scx10 and I love doing river runs, but just recently i have been starting to submerge the truck fully but i haven't done anything to waterproof the battery. So do lipo batteries need to be waterproofed or no?

The actual cells are already water and air tight. It is the connections that could corrode. I don't waterproof my lips and haven't had a problem.

Would it make a difference if it is saltwater? People put their Lipo's in saltwater to safely discharge them before disposal (I have heard anyways), so if they are using it in saltwater...

saltwater will not discharge a lipo. now if you left it submerged for a couple months, then maybe you would lose a little voltage!

the worst thing about water crossings will be corrosion on your connectors, esc and receiver waterproofing, then corrosion on all the other metal parts of the rig (screws, gears, and such)
