Life cells have a lower nominal voltage (3.3V) than Lipo cells (3.7V). Life cells also have a lower energy density 220 Wh/L than Lipo cells 300 Wh/L. Lower voltage means lower motor speeds and lower energy density means bigger cells to get the same mha rating as a cell with a higher energy density. All batteries storage energy and have some risk of fire when using or charging. If handled properly LiPo batteries are safe to use in RC cars. |

The main advantage of LiFe is storage over time (while not used). A LiPo that is fully charged will relatively quickly lose capacity (permanently!) if left in that condition. You need to have it at ~45% charge during storage to avoid capacity loss. LiFe is considerably less sensitive in that regard, which is why LiFe is preferred for applications where the capacity is used over a longer time period (like in transmitters) or where the charge level during storage can't differ from the charge level while in use (like motorcycle batteries). |
