3 pos switch mod on an HPI 3ch radio

I have the HPI 2.4ghz, 3 channel radio, really a nice little RTR radio, has all ch1 ch2 end points and reverse for all 3 channels. seems to be a great radio and only takes 4 AA's... it has a stock 2 pos 3rd channel button.

now, I want to add a micro 3 pos switch I have for it so i can use it for a winch for a loner radio/rig.. I may have to take some pics but can anyone explain to me how I add this in place of the stock 2 pos. ?

where the button is the new 3 pos toggle fits perfect, just need to take the stock button off the board and solder? my new one on?? where? what terminals on the switch go to what on board?

thanks so much for any help."thumbsup"

Re: 3 pos switch mod on an HPI 3ch radio

Sorry I can't help you as I've never looked inside one of these, but it may not be possible depending on the board and s/w design. These types of mods usually require adding or changing resistors or some re-wiring, I doubt it's as simple as changing out the switch.

Do post back here if you find a solution somewhere as it may help others.

Good luck.

Re: 3 pos switch mod on an HPI 3ch radio

yeah i think this is a sweet little radio for an rtr that is. good basher. but I looked inside and its got 3 posts that the s pos on/off spring button is soldered too, it can be de-soldered and new wires attached.. I just dont know what configuration they go in. there are 4 wires coming from my 3 pos toggle switch. 2 in 2 out + and - of course. Im thinking its close to the same as the traxxas radio mod they do with that radio. just need some help to know for sure.
