I've thought about your set of stubbies!!! I am currently running these 35t motors of yours and I'm completely happy with the performance. What advantage in weight would I have running a stubby, I'm assuming that's about the only thing I'm gaining over these. If there is other advantages I'm all ears! |

Well, A Vapor version would save you about 1 oz....a stubby is nearly 2 oz lighter, but also 5mm shorter, so you gain link clearance. What you have there is the older version of the Creep. Later EddieO |

Eddie, what are your thoughts on building a set of motors based on some Checkpoint cans and endbells? Will a standard HKK arm work in those cans with that endbell? Thanks, Jake |

As long as you have the 7.5mm comm, they will work fine. The checkpoint endbells are really good, so should be a stout setup. Later EddieO |

Hmm I wonder if the fixed timing checkpoint (money 19t) can be modified to be adjustable? Kinda like the old stockers or spec motors with the little plastic ear you can trim off? lol Jake |

As long as the can is round, just cut the tab off and yer good to go.....the CP money works fine if you cut the tab off. Later Eddieo |

+ the can of the CP money is ~10 gramms lighter there are 2 M2 setscrews from the inside of the endbell , loose them and you can remove the brushhoods with a 8mm or 5/16" nut driver itīs easy to shorten the hoods to run 10mm comm arms |

Hmm, I will have to weight a money can....there was not alot of them made, as unless you were on a bigger track they trinity stuff still blew it away, plus some tracks did not allow them because they didn't have a comm lock. If you choose to shorten the hoods, be sure to do it on a lathe or mill.....A dremel is just gonna tweak the crap out of it most of the time. Later EddieO |

A few more Stubbys went out today... First set went to a team driver... Specs 30T HHK-SR Armature VPI Dipped with Epoxy Balance. Fully Lightened Endbell with all the lightweight goodies. Ceramic Bearings Stubby Can Quad FB9 Magnets Standup 729 Brushes Team Firm Springs with Insulation Front motor was 128.8g and Rear was 128.2g Second set to a customer 35T HHK-SR Armature VPI Dipped with Epoxy Balance. Fully Lightened Endbell with all the lightweight goodies. Ceramic Bearings Stubby Can Dual FB9 Magnets Standup Team Brushes Team Extra Firm Springs with Insulation Front motor was 128.2g and Rear was 127.6g Was very pleased with these two motors. The 30t were very stout on the dyno, being the first set of the 30t Stubbys produced, will be interesting to see how they are on the rocks, they certainly won't be lacking on power.... Later EddieO |

Hi EddieO, What's your thought about using orion V2 endbell as crawler motor? Since I think they were designed for racer during the old days, I am not sure if the spring applies enough pressure onto the brush and comm as they are at an angle. I have a 2 of them in good condition, just the armature are in 9 and 12t, Would they perform if I put in a 35T HHK arm on it? Does it only take 7.5mm Comm? |

Th v2 endbell works excellent. I have plenty of parts for them, including very stiff springs.... I would only use a 7.5mm comm. Even if the 9mm fit (it does one some or if the comm has been turned down some), its WAY to close of a tolerance and even a slight flex of the shaft or movement of the endbell and it could hit and destroy the comm. Not worth the risk. They work great regardless of arm type, though the HHK would be a good choice. The can is basically the same as a apocalypse with different venting, same magnets though. Hi Eddie, Recently a mate of mine got a pair of your 35turn intensity machine wounds second hand. He only wanted 1 of them, so I had the other. Am I seeing things, or are they double winds with a fat wire and a thin wire. The following pics are of the worst one, comm needed a fair bit of cutting. |

They are a double with a variance wind... Kinda common on some machine wounds. Later EddieO |
