Default Motor questions?? Holmes Trailmaster Sport?

Hey all I have been searching and can not find much about this. I was looking around and saw Holmes has a trail master sport 540. What are the specs on this motor. I can not finda any good info on it I want some cheap motors around because that is what I run when me and Dad are out terrorizing the woods. I have a 27 turn axial on 2 S LiPo and I like the performance of that for tearing up the woods. Would this trail master from holmes be comprabable to that 27 turn axial or what?

Also I have my first comp coming up. I will be swapping out the axial 27 turn for the Integy 35 turn I have in my parts drawer. The comp I am going to will be all rocks. I just picked up my first 3s battery pack today. I will probably run a 14 or 15 tooth pinion do you all think that will be a decent combination for a comp?

Sorry so lengthy just wanted to try and be thurough.

I ran mine for the first time today on 3s in my scx10 it worked pretty well. The trail master is not a motor I would run through water. Just run a cheap motor for that. That would be a good motor for that purpose. But in 3 s not 2 s not enough wheel speed.

I agree with not running an expensive motor for slop. There are two trail masters a pro and sport. The pro is just shy of 70 bucks but the sport lists for $11.99. The trailmaster sport is what I am referring to the axial motors I get for $14.99 new but the trail master sport does not list or at least I haven't seen where it list what turn the motor is. Would that trail master sport be comprable to my axial 27 turns?

My guess would be it's a 27T based on it's part number.

Yes that makes sense was just hoping someone had some experience with them before I bought one. But they are inexpensive enough I may just order a couple and try them out.

They are pretty new, so I doubt yer gonna get a lot of feedback on them.

While I have not held one in my hand, it appears to be a mabuchi/johnson/sagami type of sealed can motor. It looks like John spent some extra on the motor, my guess better magnets and/or brushes...but in the end, as the site says these are meant to be used and abused. At the cost he is selling them at, they are clearly meant to be a disposable motor for less than a price of a movie ticket.

I haven't seen these either but at that price how can you go wrong? We all need some "chepo" motors to use from time to time and this looks to be a excellent option, might get a few myself.

Props to you EddieO !

Thanks guys. Had no idea they were new to be honest that was the first time I had been on their website. And for as much good as I hear about Holmes they have to be a good cheap motor. I will just order up a couple and report back.

Any update on these Trail Master Sport models now that they've been on the market a few months? My OEM Axial motor is going on my Wraith. I was thinking of putting in the Traxxas Titan 550, but I'm curious on the cheap HH option.

As asked above, how does it compare to the Axial motor that comes in the Wraith?

No slop with the Trailmaster sport? A little dirt, some puddles? Not at all? What is the diff between the sport and Pro with regards to performance?

Sorry for the long delay but I have ran of of these motors finally. It is very similar in my opinion to the axial 27 turns in my opinion. I am running it on 3s and these things are great cheap motor not a big deal if it burns up and I think in my opinion running both the axial and the holmes motor on 3s I believe that the holmes has a little more torque and a little better motor than the axial and even a little cheaper. For me I love these things but i like my cheap motors as my crawler is a family thing my 3 year old plays with it along with all my little cousins and everybody at family functions. It crawls well and has enough torque and speed to do with whatever you want I will continue to buy these and support them perfect for what I do and a great trail motor.
