Default Battery size and run time

Hi ,

How important is the weight ratio of a lipo to battery run time .

What is most important to you on our rig ??

Do you think it is better to have more packs to change out that are smaller ??

We will base this on stock rig a wraith or SCX10

Thank you for any input

Priority list:
  1. Must fit physically.
  2. Correct voltage.
  3. Sufficient current output rating.
  4. Affordable.
As for energy capacity it depends on the intended use.
- For a comp rig a couple of batteries that last 10 minutes (~1Ah) each is better.
- For trail runs more capacity (~4Ah) is better.

Thanks for the reply.. Me and my family are not comping we are just having fun..

We will be building some quality rigs in the future..We are starting with RTR to get into it and learn .

I have been reading up as much as I can to learn .

We know nothing about the RC Crawling world yet but we will.We own a Archery Pro Shop going on 20 years.so we know everything archery..this new to us

My son is 7 He we will be basher for sure for a while. Me and the wife will most likely be into the crawling ..we do allot of outdoors with our jeeps and utv and camping this adds to the list

Scx10 with a 5000mah battery is about an hour runtime for me. I have a 20t motor so it goes pretty fast, and is also why the runtime isn't longer. My dad has a 27t in an scx10 and has about an hour and fifteen minutes with the same battery, even with lights.

Weight is roughly the same for batteries in the 3000-6000 mAh range.
With a more efficient motor than those mentioned above, like in the 35T-45T range, the battery will last even longer (but the crawler run a bit slower).

Tekin FXR ESC, 35 turn motor and 5000mah 2S lipo on a Wraith I get nearly 3 hours of run time. I usually end up being done before the battery runs out. One thing to remember that no one has mentioned is that battery size/location also affects the handling of your rig. I went with 22 00 mah lipos for my scx-10 because the 5000 seemed a little heavy and I couldn't quite find a nice location to balance it out for crawling. It handles alot better now with a lighter weight battery, on my Wraith I relocated the battery under the hood for the same effect. Good luck this is a great forum to learn from.

I run a 4000 mah 2S thru a Novak Rooster with a HH 45T Torquemaster and get nearly 3 full hrs runtime with the stock gearing. It is setup for turque more than speed but I find that type of setup perfect for a days bashing

I have had good luck using Gens Ace brand lipos. They are affordable as a 5000 mah 2s runs around 30 bucks.
