Holmes brushed motors

Holmes doesn't seem to have a vendor thread on his brushed motors. Perhaps some of you know. When I bought a Torquemaster Expert, I was told I could upgrade it with a hand-wound armature in the future.

So if I do that, do I wind up with the exact same motor as starting with one of his hand-wounds? By that I mean the can and whatever other pieces are not replaced by the armature change. Obviously I'd probably do brushes just for wear.

Your only replacing the arm. If you want a better/new can then you would have to buy it separately.

It might actually be cheaper to sell your TorqueMaster Expert in the classified section and buy a new Pro.

As long as the magnets are still strong in the can you have you'll be just fine with a replacement armature. Check the bearings and make sure they are good also. I'm pretty sure JRH is still using the same can and magnets between the Torquemaster Experts and Pros, but don't hold me to that.

Yeah, that's the impression I got back then, but wasn't sure I had that right. The motor's low time, doesn't need rebuild. I just want to up the kv.

The sport, expert, and pro all share can and magnets. The only differences are in the endbells parts and armature winding on the pro. A pro arm will drop in your sport/ex and make it almost the same.

You're right. I was looking on Vendors/Electronics (which also has some Holmes threads). Didn't realize there were threads in two different locations. But I got what I was looking for.
