ok so electronics have never been my strong suit in this hobby.

i have a 1/6 scale jeep running 40 series tires with twin force axles, and a summit tranny.

my problem is i have smoked the motor twice now, and i can tell it losing power, so i will need to replace it. but i want to solve the problem first before i replace it.

i'm running either a 5000mah or 8000mah 3cell battery, a HH toque master br-XL waterproof esc. and a traxxas 775 motor.

i have run the truck several times, and it has smoked twice now, it has never been in mud, only snow. not to sure if clean snow would do that to a motor.

any suggestion would be great, and save the "try the search button" because i already have. and i have gotten some leads but they didn't solve my problem.

i'm wondering if that motor is under power and i'm cooking it. both times it was during high speed runs, not during crawling.

My 1st question is.... How is the gear mesh? If it is too tight, that will cook it. Also, is there any binding anywhere?

i did the paper between the gears trick, but it is metal to metal pinion and spur gear.
i think they are set up correct, but i will start there for sure.

maybe it's just too much weight for the Traxxas motor.

I bet a HH 14T Puller on 6s will push that monster around.
Place an ad in the classifieds for one. "thumbsup"

The titan775 can be finicky. In a summit you can gear lower but not higher, the motor can't take it.

A popular mod for the summit is to run a 14.4 dewalt drill motor. It's a pretty simple swap alls you need to do is widen the mounting holes on the stock motor mount and solder on some new leads. (caps also if you run am)

Is it the best motor in the world? No but I believe you can get one for under $40 and the brushes are replaceable. In a summit (granted you aren't running in a summit) it is a much hardier upgrade.

Edit: Snow shouldn't hurt the Titan. I'm guessing its just underpowered for such a large RC.

if the dewalt motor doesnt cut it, then, you may need to start looking into the big 1/8 scale brushless systems..... :twisted:

I'd ask HH what he recommends.
I'd also bet that the 14t Puller is a better motor than the Dewalt.

Weight is what killed my stock axial motor. Ran fine til I added that 2#'s worth of VP Aluminum then POOF white smoke first run after.

Also costs more. Like I said it may not be the best but for $40 it's hard to beat. The main reason I suggest the dewalt is its been proven in a big heavy truck.

Speaking of wich TRAV how heavy is your truck?
