Default Spektrum DX3E Broke!

This radio transmitter came with my Vaterra Twin Hammers 1.9.

So the first thing to break was the aux button for the shifting servo... it will only shift down and not into high. This is a mechanical failure due to a tab on the back of the switch snapping off.
-This isn't bad and should be an easy fix with a grub/set screw or something (switch could probably be reversed via the top settings)

Here's the biggie. With radio and car on the steering servo will only turn right... not left. However if the steering is reversed on the top of the radio it will only turn left... with no right.
-Adjusting trims, end points, and steering rate have made no effect on the ability of the radio to work when the steering wheel is turned counter clockwise. It only works in clockwise motion.

WTF? Did I get a bum unit?
Anyone had any similar issues with any working solutions?
Already took it apart so there's probably no chance of getting a replacement.

Kinda pissed 'cause I was looking to go brushless and now I'm gonna need a new radio.

Just did a re-bind of the transmitter and receiver with no such luck...

How old is the radio? I'd contact horizon hobby and see what they say. Their customer service is pretty good.

I had a DX3E that quite working after about 3 months, sent it in to Horizon and they replaced the unit for free, then that unit quite after about 2 months, again sent it back. Horizon upgraded me to A DX3C at no charge and told me that were discontinuing the DX3E. I was given another DX3E from Friend that got out of rc, That Radio quite to, but all the receivers are still good. Then they come out with TH and it has the DX3E?

Great customer service, but DX3E is A junk as far as I'm concerned.

How's the DX3C been holding up?

I'm thinking of picking up a Futaba 3PL and just be done with it.

As a Futaba guy, do a 4PL at a minimum, you have more crawler options in the long run.

Yea, but it's also double the cost... I'm also only a casual basher and not really planning on getting into serious crawling. Yet a 4 channel radio would easily pay for itself with a few vehicles programed in, but as of now I only have the twin hammers.

The Spektrum or Futaba?

I might just contact horizon about it, but I feel like they might be in bad shape after all the shifting servo issues with the twin hammers. And I'm sure that more of these radios will fail... as my equipment is well taken car of.

Dunno if the radio can be fixed by myself, but it's wort a shot as I've already pulled it apart.

You really should contact them. Their support is second to none. I crash an airplane, called them up looking for a part for it and they sent it to me free of charge. Even after I told them it was my fault!
