Default putting bearings in dewalt

Got the bearings,5x8x2.5 for the bearing mod to the dewalt.Now how do I open the can?

Why?

I can't help but think you'll destroy the can attempting to dismantle it. They are definitely not meant to be taken apart.

Well on the summit board,there is no bearings on the brushes end.He put bearings in,I guess just bend the taps back put in hope for the best?

Yep bend the tabs, pop the endbell off, then bend them back and use a punch or screwdriver if you have to and tap them with a hammer to tighten the tabs back down when you re-assemble.

Thanks ,yes the tabes look thinner than the can,was worryed about bending them.thinking this is a very good mod?

Maybe just wait until the bushing wears out? Then you're not out a brand new dewalt...they seem to hold up well in a summit but I understand wanting to do it now so you don't have to worry about it down the road.

Im with happymachinist i would leave well enough alone until the problem presents itself. Keep the bearings on hand and if it goes bad fix it then.
