| Burning up motors
Need some help. I have a 7lb axial jk. Running overdrive gears in front and under in the rear. Running 1.9 boggers. Ive fried a handwound 35t brood motor and a 55t integy. Motors get so hot they dont move. Loose all power. Give a minute it will come back for a sec and then fall on its face again?? Any ideas??? Thought about putting stock back in rear or running a puller motor???? Please help. Its getting expensive!!!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead:

if you remove the pinion, will it freely roll? It sounds like you have binding. |

Gearing or binding would be the first thing to check out.

If the motors are hot, then: -You are overgeared -You have a bind in the drivetrain -Pinion to spur mesh is too tight Actually this is a pretty simple issue....awaiting on YOUR reply. |

What pinion/spur gears are you running?

it's gotta be binding or the mesh.

It won't free roll because you are running different ratios in the front and back. You are not overgeared. If your drivetrain has no binding I am going to guess you drive on high traction surfaces and the overdrive/underdrive is causing the heat.

If theres no binding or the meshes are good I would think about going back to stock in the rear. Having such a large swing in gearing will cause you to overheat if you run on smoother surfaces alot. Things like cement, blacktop and large smooth rocks will cause the heat issue. Running your current setup over loose footing such as sand, dirt and pebble you probably wont even notice any heat related issues.

I've always ran od/ud in my rigs and never overheated a motor.

We have a couple of UD/OD rigs in house (2.2 & 1.9)....no issues on burning up motors. Check for drivetrain binding first. |

| Re: Burning up motors My 1.55 and 1.9 are both OD/UD and Ive never had any issues with heat either. My brother in law runs the same setup in his that I hhave and he burnt thru a couple cheapo motors before he listened to my advice and upgraded to a decent HH. The problem went away. At the end of the day you get what you put into it and if people dont want to upgrade the right things than I think they need to "downgrade" to compensate for their cheapness

I'm having the same problems in my Wraith I am on my 5th motor in 3 days, all my driveline spins freely and same gears in front and rear axle, my motor gets so hot that the end ell melts off the motor, I'm running a mmp esc with a brushed motor, have tried different pinions, right now I'm running a 27t epic motor, running a 58t spur with a 6t pinion just to give it some torque, I have tried everything from 19t motors to 75 turn motors and smoked them all, I just want it to crawl with just a little wheel speed on 3s batts, sorry not trying to hi jack a thread but maybe someone can help both of us out.
