dunked MMP... any hope?

Went crawling this weekend for the first time in forever. Got a little confident and was on this rock ledge about 20 ft. above the river.... and yep, she slipped, flipped and landed in the river.

The rig was completely submerged for about 1 minute until i could run down stream and fish it out.

The dig switch works, the steering servo works, but the ESC will not chime or power up. So far it's been drying for about 32 hours.

Should i assume this thing is history?

I would take the MMP out of the case and put the board into a zip lock bag full of dry rice for a few days. The odds are better if the device isn't powered on until it is fully dried but there is still a chance that you can still save it.

I had something like that happen to me with a gen 1 sidewinder put it in a bag of rice, I left it in there for about a week it did work after that but would not connect to castle link. I used it for another year before it gave up the ghost.

I've dunked my MMP and it was toast. Since then I have invested in conformal coating and I take the time to tear down new ESCs and 'paint' several layers of the stuff on the circuit boards. Also have been doing this to servo boards, motor timing boards, etc...

Nah man, if he had done the rice trick before powering it back up then maybe but I doubt it will work now. Never hurts though, throw it in a container of rice and put the lid on it. The rice trick DOES work...Good luck buddy..

Remember that you can send it back to Castle for a non-warranty repair that costs ~$75 if it's dead.

I have dunked a couple MMP ESCs. They always shut down on me and go dead silent. I let them sit for a couple days to a week in a warm dry place, then plug them back in and everything works fine. The only Castle products I ever kill anymore with water are the BECs.
