Default Novak rooster crawler heat

Ok guys I've got a Novak rooster crawler with a 45 turn motor. I was wondering does most everybody run fans on the esc to keep them cool or is it not needed? My motor and esc are getting pretty warm to the touch and was wondering for longevity's sake if I need fans to keep the cooler I really don't want to see the mystery smoke again. Thanks for input

what gearing are you running? I have a rooster crawler running 3s. Using a 35 turn motor. I have 12/90 gearing. The esc only gets slightly warm after running for around 10 minutes. No fans on either motor or esc.

maybe try jumping up to 88 tooth spur. I don't know how tlt axles are geared though. Do you know the ring and pinion tooth count on your axles?

I run 2 of em and havent gotten warm with either. that said for safety sake its not a bad idea and will only cost you a couple $ for the peace of mind

I don't know the ring and pinion ratio. I'm fixing to tear the buggy apart and go to all 32 pitch and while its apart it will have a set of axial axles take the place of the tlt's

Since most crawlers are high wind motors and limited "full throttle" I would not worry about fans.

Too hot is where you can't leave your fingers on the "hot part" more than ~5 seconds.

If you have a temp gun, try to keep stuff below ~150*F.

Yea I don't think I've hit the 150 threshold yet
