Default is this a good choice?

I'm running a Traxxas 12t 550 motor in my scx10 with the stock gearing. I am planning on switching from 6cell nimh to 3s lipo and was curious if this Traxxas 21t 550 motor would have the same speed (if not more) and torque with 3s against the 12t with 7.4 volts.

Thanks

( yes I realize that 3s has more voltage)

It should have just a little more speed when going to the lipo battery. But it should be noted that everything I have read says you are going to tear up your tranny with that 12t motor. Never tried it myself, but thought I would share what I have read. Curious, why a 12t in an scx10? That is like jet packs on roller skates isn't it?

Haha! Ya, i shredded my idler gear then replaced them with a rrp gear. It does about 15 with it and the stock gearing. It has great torque! I love the thing to peices... Literally. But I want to get a 3s lipo, and the 12t can't handle that.

I have a 19t 540 too and I have to say... The traxxas has much more torque and speed. It's able to be run with an sv2 and an ae2. I have run that motor in both.

Yeah I ran mine on both an sv2 and the ae2.. I loved the torque it had..even on 2s, it was nice.. I had a hh puller motor I got a while back ( when I didn't know better) and I ended up getting rid of it..lol..that thing was awesome too !

Sweet! So the 21t will definitely have more torque... But do you think it will have the same or more speed?

I would imagine going from that nimh psck to a 3s lipo, you'll notice a big difference in wheel speed compared to the 12t..

Running the traxxass 21t 550 throwaway in my kid's rig, has plenty of torque on 2s for his 6yr old trigger finger.

How quick is it on 2s? My boy is almost 7, and has been crawling with us for about a year. He has a 55t in his now..lol.. I find that it helps with repairs I have to make..haha..he drives it like his short course.. I was thinking about throwing the 21t in his truck..how do u have your sons geared?

IMO too fast, he also drives it like he stole it Originally had it geared 54/14 32p and it was wayyy too fast, went down to 87/14 48p and still too fast for him. Would be fun and torquey enough for a scaler in front of an adult trigger finger though. Thinking about going to a 35t lathe cheapie. All of this is on 2s...

I have my son's wraith geared 22/80 with ae2 esc and the titan 21T and it is a fast walk to a light jog.
