Default Shortening RX wires

All of my wires heading to the receiver are much too long. I have the excess bundled up and zip tied, but was thinking of shortening them to the proper length. Since the pins are probably crimped, I was thinking of just cutting out excess wire and soldering back together. Any reason that won't work -- like the wires are too small to screw with or something?

Nope, that'll work. But this is even better:

I've used the connectors and they are a pain IMO. I find it's just easier and quicker to cut them to length, solder and heat shrink. It won't hurt anything to do it that way.

Yep. Cutting and resoldlering works but I like the crimping tool setup better. Little bit of a learning curve but I figured out how to crimp correctly after watching a 2 minute YouTube vid. Vid in first post in thread below.

Pick up the crimpers and terminals. I'm half blind, have partially paralyzed hands and pulled it off with only a little bit of swearing. Watch instructional vids on YouTube and be prepared to screw it up a few times. You'll thank yourself later.

A bad thing about soldering is depending how long your solder joint & heat shrink are, you cannot bend or flex it.

Murphy is always making sure that the center of the joint is where the bend needs to be no matter how many times you try to fix it.

Get a packet of the plugs so much easier, you can crimp them with needle nose pliers and put a tiny bit of solder on to ensure it stays put, and when you put the gold bit it the plastic use the blunt side of a scalpel or Stanley to pull it up into place after you've push it in a bit, much easier than trying to push it all the way into place,

Thanks for the suggestions. Although all of those sound fine, I came up with another thought. Some time ago I bought a pack of 100 small 2mm gold bullets. If I just cut the extra wire out and splice back together with bullets I can replace a component any time by just soldering bullets to it's wires at the right length. Nothing is easier than soldering gold bullets. Even easy to undo.
