Default 3R AND BULLDOG Winch questions?

I had the 3r in the past and overall I thought it worked quit well but I see the bulldog is about 15 bux more. Im guessing everyone is going to say the bulldog is better and it coming with a nice hook and steel cable off the bat works for me,But is it a decent length?
On my old 3r winch I replaced the string with steel cable from a keychain for about 2 bux,so even if the bulldog comes with steel cable,is it a nice length or am I going to have to respool it anyway?

I just bought a new scx10 so it would be some time before I can buy a decent radio to work the winch,I see for about $60 I can get the bulldog with a wireless remote,Just wondering how good this works and is it worth it or should I just use that extra 30 bux towards a radio with the proper features? I do have a flysky gt3b,but I think that has to be modded or hacked or something to use the channel like that?

I took apart a Bulldog winch yesterday. The amount of line on the spool wasn't enough to go from the work bench to the floor.

Do yourself a favor and mod the firmware in your GT3B. It can do so much after that!
If you can't mod it right away and still want to use a winch, this will get you going:
Winch Controller for Radio with 2 Position Third Channel
