| Tekin ROC412 w MMP crawling question.
My set up: I have a 1/6 scale Willys at about 11lbs or so running a Tekin Roc412 3100kv with the Mamba Max Pro @ 115:1 crawl ratio utilizing 2s & 3s Lipo's. What I am trying to accomplish, when crawling down hill the vehicle almost seem to coast instead of crawl at it's slowest throttle speed and when I let off the brakes seem pretty violent. But crawls up hill nicely. Settings as follow: *V 1.32 *Auto Lipo *Crawler Reverse *Normal motor direction *!00% Brake *213% Crawler Full on drag brake *Transmitter Calibration Full Revers: 1.128ms Neutral: 1.555ms Full Forward: 1.953ms *Max Forward Power 100% *Max Reverse Power 100% *Punch Control 0% *BEC Voltage 6.0V *Arming Time 1.5s *Throttle Dead Band Small .0500ms *Start Power Medium *Sensorless Motor Timing Lowest (0) *Motor Type Smart Sense Brushless *Throttle Curve Interpolation None *Brake Curve Interpolation None Any one out there running this combo (or flat out rc guru) have some input for me. I am told the motor is what would cause my issue. But isnt the motor doing the braking, which is more then adequate? So my pea brain would think the ESC could take some tuning and the down hill slow speed could be improved. I am hoping any way. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide. |

Motor Type should be censored only otherwise the motor will not run right. I run a ROC 2300 w/ MMP

I'm not much of a brushless guy, so others will likely chime in. I will say that ESC firmware version 1.28 seems to be better suited to crawling than some of the newer versions. If you have a Castle Link, see if you can back-date the firmware and try it again. You may also want to dial the brake back to 50% & try (leave the crawler brake alone). Did you calibrate the ESC to the RX?? |

I will try it to see if it makes a difference. But this is out of the manual, sounded like it was better. 1. Smart Sense mode combines the best of sensored and sensorless operation. The ESC uses the sensors for motor startup and then switches to the dynamic timing of sensorless mode for maximum efficiency and lowest heat generation. Yes I did calibrate the ESC & RX. Forgot to update, I did back the brake down to 50% and it still seemed pretty aggressive. Will try dropping it a little more. Last edited by snydercj7; 04-24-2013 at 07:37 PM. |

It seems I should have done more research or asked more questions before making the purchase. But now I am to understand that down hill coasting effect is "normal" for the brushless motor. Guess that means I need to re-figure out what kind of motor I should be running in this "crawler" application.

I've tried my MMP with Tekin Redlines and Pro4's. All said and done, my crawler is running a Holmes BRXL and a brushed Crawl Master Pro 13T. I'll use the BL stuff elsewhere.
